Flamingo Friday #3

Hi there! Back from hols and into the hustle and bustle of everyday life. :) I hope your summer has been great as well! :) Uhm we wont talk about the weather. :(  I hope you are not tired of my current flamingo theme goin on here, here is another outfit I wore earlier this summer. :) A bit different from my usual vintageinspired style, I sometimes like to branch out in a more modern and preppy style direction.

Im really into this skirt and tights combo, skirt being a lot shorter than my usual midi preferance but this totally works. :) And not to forget I got hold of a sequined flamingo t-shirt, a dream come true! :)

Well what else is goin on, Ive really upped my sewing game lately as I have signed up for my third sewing class starting in September. :) I cant wait!! Its another beginner course cause my skills are really so so at the moment. ;) Hehehe hopefully practice makes perfect, Im really motivated this time around as one of my goals is to make my own circle skirts. :) As it is now Im spending a small fortune on paying others to make skirts for me but I would really love it if I could make my own one day. It shouldnt prove too difficult, Im trying to get the hang of it all, bought me some cheap fabric to practice on. :) Im going nutters thinking of all those wonderful, fun and quirky fabrics out there just beggin to be used for a skirt!! :) LoL
My current sewing projects are some new curtains for my bedroom and some pillowcases. :)

Flamingo Friday #2

Hello ladies! Here is my second flamingo outfit out of four, this is a favourite of mine. :) Im also sporting my new flamingo sandals for the first time, such a pretty sight. :) Im so happy we had one day of summer (!) so that I could put this outfit on show. :)

Im so sorry for the dress riding up a little, I didnt pay any attention to it when taking these photos, Im a bit annoyed by it really. It kind of ruins the impression of the dress, how it flows over the body. Im a smitten kitten with this fabric and the shape of this dress, its fun, quirky and beautiful at the same time. :) Its  from the Danish brand Mania Copenhagen, I already own several mania dresses but this is the first time Im trying this pin up model. Its lower in the back than the front (cant remember the english word for that).. ;)

My flamingo sandals is by Miss Lfire, my first pair of shoes from them. Im really pleased with them, not only looking spectacular but surprisingly comfortabel as well. :) Wont be my last pair, Ive already got my eye on a few, hehehe. :)
So what else is cooking, well I have my last day at the office tomorrow and then looking very much forward to holidays for three weeks. We will visit the family summerhouse/cabin in southern Norway and preferably spend a day or two at the beach (fingers crossed) We are also going to the Zoo for the first time with our toddler, I hope she will like it there as she is really into animals. :) Other than that we will just relax and spend time with family and friends.Kind of low key vacation which I think is fine by my toddler. :)

Flamingo Friday #1

Well hello there summer! Better late than never I guess. ;) Last week was hot and sunny and I was finally able to let out my eager flamingos. ;) This is the first flamingo related outfit out of three. :)

This is my first flamingo skirt woop woop from new to me brand Banned Apparel. I know this sweet lady in UK which acts as my personal buyer in cases where the postage to Norway is insane and way to expensive. She bought this fantastic skirt for me and shipped it herself to Norway, saved me lots of pounds. Truly an act of kindness, she is a life (dress and skirt) saver that one! :) Im forever grateful Kels! :)

Im playing around with a belt or no belt, I think the outfit looks better with a belt. :) And look, Ive made a new little birdy friend. :) As you may have noticed Im no wearer of jewellery but that might have changed since I stumbled upon these gorgeous brooches from down under brand Erstwilder. These are the perfect compliments to any retro/quirky/vintage inspired outfit! :) I must admit I have purchased 4 different brooches already, I see a new addiction brewing. ;)

Well for those of you that follow me on Instagram you caught some glimpses of what I was up to in Brussels. The meetings ended up being quite a hassle especially since I was new to it all and apparently Norway was in the spotlight which totally threw me over. I got asked a bunch of questions in which I wasnt able to reply cause I had no knowledge of the matter in question. Blah! I felt really embarrassed and uncomfortable not only for myself but on Norways behalf as well. :(  Well now I  know better and if I can help it I will not attend these particulary meetings anymore. I was only stepping in for a colleague of mine who wasnt able to participate. But at least I got to spend some time in Brussels (shopping anyone? ) so it was not all bad. :)

Outfit details:

Cardigan from H&M (old)
Skirt from Banned Apparel (recent but all sold out)
Flamingo brooch from Erstwilder
Belt from Hell Bunny
Shoes from vagabond (old)

Boden by me #2

Weee here`s a full rainbow for ya! :) Lately Ive been drawn to wearing skirts instead of dresses. A dress is pretty and all but doesnt require the amount of styling as a skirt where you need to find a top and cardi to match or mismatch. ;) My newest addition to my growing collection of retroinspired full skirts is of course this beauty by Boden. What can I say it was love at first sight online. :)

I wore this to work on a sunny day (they are few and far between) and this was just the perfect outfit. :) I really love the fit of this skirt, quite fitted at the waist and upper hip and then flares out.

I decided to match stripes on stripes to make the outfit a bit more interesting, I love to have fun with my clothes. :)

Finally I have decided on the outfit for my meetings in Brussels later this week. I hope this dress from Boden will see me safely through it all, its the more modest of dresses I own and its navy which is a corporate colour. Wish me luck ladies, Im sure gonna need it!!

What I wore:

T-shirt top from Kappahl (recent)
Cardi from H&M (old)
Cara skirt from Boden (recent)
Shoes from Vagabond (old)

Boden by Me

I attended a confirmation dinner party for one of my cousins a Sunday in May. And I wore this, covered in Boden from head to toe (nearly). ;) I love the fact that Boden always have some vintage inspired clothes in their collections. :) This is the vintage bow dress and I think it lives up to its name. :)

Lately I have become more and more infatuated by vintage/retro inspired clothes, admiring the pin up girls who lives out my secret dream. One of my guilty pleasures is to read vintage style blogs/insta blogs, soooooo many pretty outfits Im nearly having a heart attack. ;) Sadly Im not able to wear that kind of clothes in my everyday life, its not compatible with having a toddler and I would look like I was going to a costume party everyday. ;) Oh well only in my dreams then..

Im wearing this lovely, bright yellow trenchcoat from Boden, its from the spring collection last year but this is the first time Im wearing it. :) I think it goes rather well with my dress. :)
Bleurgh, have you heard summer is off? Im having a hard time dressing these days, all I want to wear is bright, colourful, summery outfits but the weather certainly isnt keen on that idea. :( Its been raining and so cold we might as well  been living on Iceland for that matter. We havent even touched the 20 Celsius yet and thats a disgrace at this time of year. Im so fed up with the freakish weather and feel like my inspiration and mojo has turned the blind eye and left me in jeans and boring top for weeks on end.......Please Please Summer will you turn up sooon?
And if that wasnt enough I have a clothing dilemma that has left me in a bit of a puddle. Im going to Brussel later this month on a work trip, attending a couple of meetings in the EU district. Im scared shitless to say the least (iiiikkk - first time in Brussel and first time attending an EU meeting, all on my own). And what to wear??? I dont think my fondness of colours and novel patterns will go down well with the EU crowd. *giggles* Formal clothes is so not me and I dont own any such garment either. Luckily I still have some time left to figure this one out....

What Im wearing:

Fifties cardigan from Boden (SS 2015)
Vintage bow dress from Boden (SS 2015)
Trenchcoat from Boden (SS 2014)
Shoes from Pataugas (old)

White Stuff - How I wore

Ah better late than never, here is how I styled my recent aquired ellie garments from White Stuff. I paired the ellie shirt with a red blazer, red ankle boots and jeans treggings. Can you tell I love red? :)

I wore this to a work conference hence the "corporate" look. ;) However I think I interpreted the corporate a bit different than the other participants, I was not hard to miss in a crowd of black and grey. ;) hehehe

I dont feel awkward standing out in a crowd even though Im quite the shy person, my mission in life is to fight the blacks and greys and hopefully to be an inspiration to others to wear f* colour as Trinnny would put it. :))

Here I am in my hotel room at the conference taking a last look in the mirror before I head out for the first meeting. :)

Please excuse the poor lit mobile picture. I must confess the elephant skirt was a huge success! I received so many lovely compliments. :) No suprise to me, its such a knock out skirt. :)

What I wore:

Blazer from H&M (old)
Ellie shirt from White Stuff (recent)
Jeans treggings from Dr. Denim (seriously they are the best ever!)
Ankle boots from El Naturalista (old)

White Stuff - reviews and favourites from the Lost Island collection

Aloha! As I told you in my last post I went a bit nuts in the White Stuff shop in Copenhagen. Go figure! ;)  This is how it looks from the outside, pic taken from my previous trip to Copenhagen back in September 2014.
I was literally drooling all over when I noticed my current favourite collection, The Lost Island was in stock. :) I immediately started rummaging through the clothing racks, I was on a mission you see and then rushed downstairs to changing rooms with my hands full. ;) And here it goes:

Little Ellie shirt - OMG, how cuuuuuuuute is this shirt!!! Even the name makes me smile, Im actually thinking of naming my next child Elli if Im having a girl. (No wait a minute, no baby on the way yet) Little elephants in a variety of colours on a white shirt, so so so so so adorable! Please excuse my manic looking eyes, seems like Im having an out of myself experience, hahhaa. :) The shirt went of course home with me.

A closer look of those lovely baby ellies. :)

Tutuilia cardi -  Its official Ive been elephantized, another ellie item for ya, the gorgeous tutuilia cardi. :) Another elephant bites the dust in my suitcase and guess what Ive got room for lots more. ;)

Ellie the elephant skirt - Well I only missed a elephant skirt didnt I?? :) Not my most glamorous moment, socks anyone? But you get the picture, I bet you cant take your eyes of that gorgeous skirt anyway. :P

Wild floral reversible skirt - Another great elephant skirt but sadly this didnt go home with me. The fit was good, a bit lighter and wider than the other ellie skirt. That sums up the ellie hauling for now, if you fancy some more elephant goodies you might take a look at these:

Elephant tunic

Round about ellie shirt

Ditsy elephant scarf

Swans bell & whistle skirt - I did try on another skirt Ive had my eyes on for a while, unfortunately I had blowed my budget on those ellies otherwise I would have bought this skirt in a heartbeat. :) Hopefully I will get hold of it later during a sale. :)

Well I guess thats nuff ellies for one night. ;)  Stay tune for my next post where I will show you how I styled my newly aquired elephant beauties. :) Have a lovely week folks and dont forget Game of Thrones tonight, Im off to watch myself. :)

Copenhagen revisited & blogger meet up!

Hello there!! Im finally back after a no show for weeks, my PC died on me a few weeks back (one of the hard drives went nuts, thank god for back up). ;) And as you can see I have done a bit of travelling. :) I went to Copenhagen for a long weekend with my mum and my sister, as a gift to my mum for her 60th birthday. :) Well Copenhagen what can I say, I just luuuuuuuve it there. :) This is the wiew from the hotel we stayed at, overlooking "rådhusplassen", the town square. This pic was taken at 6 am, early  I know but we had trouble sleeping the first night cause the beds were really uncomfortable. :(

Lots of things to see and do in Copenhagen, among others getting eaten by a lego lion, living on the edge you know. ;) hehehe

Shopping to die for, can you believe my mum just walked away with these gorgeous boots!!!! They were sold out in my size, I literally screamed inside and are now internet hunting high and low. Cause you know Im pretty desperate. ;) They are from Fly London in case you were wondering. :)

A selfie at the little mermaid was in order. ;) My sis, mum and I, do we look the same? :) We had the best of times in Copenhagen, whenever we are together there are lots of giggling and laughter and good stories to share. :)

And yes a blogger meet up!! I got to meet Tine, the supersweet lady behind the blog Highly Irregular Style. :) She joined us for lunch at Cafe Norden and we had a great time! We even co-ordinated our outfits by chance. ;) Tine is such a warm and sweet person with the best sense of humour. :) Thank you dearest for being so brave and meeting not only me but my mum and sis as well, three strangers at once. ;)

Well thats all for now as Im off on a business trip for two days in Norway, tired of packing and unpacking. ;) Oh well you might wonder did I actually buy anything in Copenhagen ? Well needless to say I didnt leave Copenhagen empty handed, went a little bit nuts in the White Stuff shop (sorry Tine, didnt pay any attention to your advice of not spending it all at once). Hehhehehe. But thats another story for the next blog post. :)

Birdies and plaids

Spring is coming according to the calendar. The weatherman not so much, hehehe. What better way to celebrate spring than wearing some chirping birdies, they are just as cheerful as the jolly bunch sitting in the trees outside my house. :) I love to wake up to birds chattering. :)

Its the first time Im pairing bird print with plaids, seee it totally works!! :) Im ever so excited when I come up with new ways to mix clothes, Im constantly challenging myself in order to evolve/ perfect my style. :)

Playing with my full skirt, I never seem to get tired of that. ;) Sorry for being so short but Im not feelin it tonight, my head is at another place and Im really knackered. Will do better next time. :)

What Im wearing:

Cardigan from Poem by Oliver Bonas (old)
Dress from Ellos (sale)
Belt from Mango (old)
Shoes from Bianco (old)

All work and no play makes Monica a dull girl :)

Well hello there! Wanna come out and play?? ;) Im channeling my inner child for todays work outfit. :) Mind you I didnt wear the foxy knee highs to work, Im afraid that would have been to much to handle for my poor colleagues. :) After all Im not working in a nursery or at school. ;)

I love this newfound orange skirt which I bought in a local shop the other day, the colour, the fabric and the fit is just perfec! Im trying to stay off the novel print/pattern wagon and purchase more solids, its easier to mix and match with those.

I giggled myself silly taking these pics, goofing around like well  basically any child. ;) I can recommend to act like a child sometimes, it totally lifts your spirit. :)

What Im wearing:

Top from H&M
Cardigan from Louche (AW2014)
Skirt from WTG (recent)
Knee highs from Next (sale)
Shoes from Bianco (old)

Im linking up to Visible Monday.
